I definitely agree about not waiting just because you don't feel like you know everything. What is the most important is time. Just get that money into something and learn as you go. Chances are, assuming you stay somewhat conservative, in the long run you will make money. So just suck it up and do it. Right?

I definitely agree that even if you're a "beginner," that doesn't mean you need to wait until you know everything there is to know about the stock market. Go with what you think is the wisest decision based on where you are right now. Follow that investment. Read. You'll learn more and be able to add to your decisions and improve them as you go. Nothing better than learning because you've got your own money out there, too.
